Introduction to structural design
Structural design is the investigation of the strength, stability and rigidity of structures. The main objective in structural analysis and design is to produce a structure to withstand with all applied loads without failure during its estimated life. The main purpose of a structure is to transmit or support loads.

If the structure is not properly designed or fabricated, or if the actual applied loads are not expecting the design specifications, the device will fail to perform its function, with the serious consequences. A well-engineered structure always minimizes the possibility of costly failures.
